"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"
Bible
What is the importance of the Bible?
Historical events have been recorded down through history and bear witness to each generation. These records are documented events that set precedent and example by which we are to live, trust, and believe. The same is true about the Bible; however, there are some specific facts that we must pay close attention to or we open ourselves up to straying away from the truth.
Below, a discussion of Biblical scriptures that explain why we believe that the King James Version of the Bible is God's Word in the English language.
The Word of God was inspired by God
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" (2 Timothy 3:16)
The Word of God is everlasting and never diminishes or fades away.
"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. the grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away; But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you." (1 Peter 1:23-25 KJV)
"The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever." (Isaiah 40:8 KJV)
The Word of God is pure and right.
"The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times." (Psalm 12:6 KJV)
"For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth." (Psalm 33:4 KJV)
"Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him." (Proverbs 30:5 KJV)
The Word of God is food for our soul...the bread of life.
Jesus was being tempted by Satan. "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4 KJV) (Jesus is referring to Deuteronomy 8:3 KJV "And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.")
The Word of God bears record in heaven.
"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." (1 John 5:7 KJV)
The Word of God IS Jesus Christ
"In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1 KJV)
"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth." (John 1:14 KJV)
The Word of God is our protection.
"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." (Ephesians 6:17 KJV)
"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12 KJV)
The Word of God gives WARNINGS about adding to or taking away from the scriptures.
Jesus confirmed that all scriptures would come to pass. "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." (Matthew 5:18 KJV)
"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." (Revelation 22:18-19 KJV)
The Word of God will judge us.
John 12:48 "He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day." (John 12:48 KJV)
Here is one way to prove that all "versions" of the Bible that change the actual scriptures are corrupt:
Considering the WARNINGS God gave us in his Word, take a look at The United States Copyright Law for a "Derivative Work" ("a work based on or derived from one or more already existing works") - this document can also be found on our Documents page.
The United States Copyright Law for a Derivative Work
"To be copyrightable, a derivative work MUST DIFFER SUFFICIENTLY from the original to be regarded as a new work or MUST CONTAIN a substantial amount of NEW material. Making minor changes or additions of little substance to a preexisting work will not qualify a work as a new version for copyright purposes. The new material must be original and copyrightable in itself. Titles, short phrases, and formatting are not copyrightable." (US Copyright Law)
The actual SCRIPTURES of the King James Version of the Bible are NOT copyrighted and is the only BIBLE that is NOT under copyright law. However, the portion of the King James Version of the Bible that is copyrighted is the reference material...NOT the actual SCRIPTURES.
ALL other versions of the BIBLE have been tainted (added to, or taken from), changed from the original work. Some of these other corrupt versions of the Bible are: New International Version (NIV), New American Standard Bible (NASB), New King James Version (NKJV), New Living Translation (NLT), and New Age Bible (NAB). These are only a few that are copyrighted as a derivative work. Take a look in the front of your Bible to check for copyrights.
